As an organisation we have always prided ourselves on our commitment to offer high quality continual professional development to all our staff. With this as our overarching aim we approached the ‘Train2Gain’ organisation to sign up to a skills pledge showing our willingness to offer all staff the ability to meet a minimum level 2 qualification.
SMART training immediately recognised that this was a great opportunity to form a partnership with an organisation that employs over 150 staff to assist us to meet our pledge.
Working with Tara Davies we have been able to identify a significant number of staff that was below the minimum qualification level. SMART then put together a programme of various course options that were not only suitable for the members of staff but also aligned the organisation’s needs.
SMART assigned each member of staff individual tutors that have become like members of staff in the school as we see them so often. They have worked with staff on various levels including management.
Each time a member of staff completes a qualification they are now asking SMART what are the next training opportunities and SMART talk to the organisation about making the opportunities become a reality.
We are now seeing staff who originally did not take up the training seeing their colleagues and wanting to join this incredibly successful training program.
SMART have also assisted with our recruitment, identifying apprenticeships as an alternative to traditional staff appointments.
From a senior management view point we would not have achieved the successes we have had without the close partnership working we have built up with SMART.
